This research work arises as a personal questioning and focuses on the descriptive study of the cases of Colombia and the Netherlands as host countries for migrants and refugees. It also focuses on the historical description of the facts that motivated the emigration of Venezuelans to Colombia and of Syrian and Eritrean people to the Netherlands. This research describes the possible routes to acquire a type of identification, either as a migrant or refugee, in the host country; what have been the evolutions with respect to identification policies; and finally, what has been the integration process for migrants and refugees in the host country. The study made it possible to identify the importance of different government agencies and non-governmental organizations in the process of implementing and complying with the policies developed by governments to welcome migrants and refugees.
