Given the current and potential future impacts of climate change on forest ecosystems, the Canadian forest sector needs to adapt by mainstreaming climate change considerations inside sustainable forest management (SFM) in order to address increasing climatic uncertainty. At the base of every adaptation plan there is the assessment of organizational readiness, which allows to understand which aspects to improve before developing adaptation plans. In 2012 Gray developed a qualitative framework to assess the state of readiness. However, its application has been limited so far. This work applies Gray’s method to evaluate organizational readiness of Tree Farm License 26 (TFL26), a community forest located in the municipality of Mission, in the province of British Columbia (BC). The research is structured as following. The first section will be literature review on state of adaptation and organizational readiness in the province. In the second part Gray’s framework will be applied by interviewing members of Mission community forest system, analysing the areas considered to be the most relevant for Mission community forest. Finally, the results will be analysed, evaluating also the functionality of Gray’s framework for assessing organizational readiness in a specific context.
