The thesis address the problem of sex exploitation by peacekeepers during the UN mandates. It describes the UN structure, how the peacekeeping works and the involvement of the states. The focus point is the reports of sex abuse to the vulnerable local communities where the peacekeepers operates. It involved mostly women and children. It try to demonstrate the difficulties in find accountability and the immunity of the UN personnel. The lack of a proper convention let to a grey zone in which the peacekeepers escape to their responsibilities. Thanks to the NGOs collection of interviews is possible to speak about this issues and denounce it. However too little is done by the sanding states and the United Nation to address the responsible of this unacceptable behaviour. This thesis try to show the main theories explaining the inefficacy of the law and the unprotection of the victims.
