This thesis focuses on the need for climate change education in Nepal, one of the most vulnerable to climate change countries in the world. It starts with an overview on the causes and effects of climate change, it then follows the international conventions and treaties that countries have signed in order to commit to reducing the effects of climate change. An important part of the first chapter is focused on the climate change in Nepal. The next chapters focus on climate change education. After a literature review on the matter, I analyse Nepal commitments in terms of educating secondary level students on issues related to climate change. The final part is augmented by research on the ground and interviews with school principals in Nepal. The objective of the thesis is to raise awareness on the risks Nepal is and will face in the future due to climate change and to stimulate its government to take more action in order to educate children on climate change mitigation and resilience.
