Taxonomy of the rare dung beetle (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) genera Grebennikovius Mlambo, Scholtz & Deschodt, 2018, Janssensantus Paulian, 1976, and Tanzanolus Scholtz & Howden, 1987 occurring in the Eastern Arc Mountains (EAM, Tanzania) is revised. An integrative approach, combining morphological analyses to molecular phylogenetic and species delimitation methods based on COI barcodes, is used to delimit species. Genera and species descriptions are written using the ontology-based semantic language PhenoScript. Results indicate that: 1) four species of Grebennikovius occur on Uluguru Mounts, of which three are described as new to science; 2) three species of Janssensantus, of which one is new to science, occur in different EAM blocks; 3) relationships between different populations of the only Tanzanolus species remain unclear and require further research.

Abstract
Results indicate that: 1) four species of Grebennikovius occur on Uluguru Mounts, of which three are described as new to science; 2) three species of Janssensantus, of which one is new to science, occur in different EAM blocks; 3) relationships between different populations of the only Tanzanolus species remain unclear and require further research.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
