This study investigates how L1-Chinese L2-Italian speakers interpret null and overt pronouns in Italian, by testing unambiguous and ambiguous contexts. The novelty of the study consists in (i) the language combination, Chinese and Italian, which has not been previously investigated; (ii) the different levels of L2 proficiency, and (iii) the syntactic conditions tested. The aim of the study is to verify whether the conclusions in Zheng et al. (2018) can be extended to our participants.
