Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a severe and debilitating condition afflicting about 2% of the population. The majority of “responders” to first-line cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and pharmacological treatments for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) are left with residual symptoms that are clinically relevant and disabling. Il disturbo ossessivo compulsivo (DOC) è una condizione grave e disabilitante che affligge circa il 2% della popolazione. La maggior parte dei "responder" alla terapia cognitivo-comportamentale di prima linea (CBT) e ai trattamenti farmacologici, rimane con sintomi residui clinicamente rilevanti e disabilitanti. Pertanto vi è un urgente bisogno di trattamenti alternativi e/o aggiuntivi efficaci ed accessibili. Le evidenze scientifiche dimostrano come l'esercizio fisico possa essere uno di questi interventi. In particolare, nei pazienti con DOC, l'esercizio aerobico di moderata intensità risulta utile nella diminuzione dell'umore negativo, ansia, ossessioni e compulsioni.
