The air bridge Kabul - Rome. Analysis of the treatment of Afghans in Italy: the whole process.

Prompted by the personal interest of understanding the real management of the transfer of Afghan collaborators arrived in Italy by the authorities themselves, the present dissertation analyses each step of the process that has started with the selection of beneficiaries of the air bridge and ended with the on-going integration process in the Italian territory. After a first general legislative and political framework on the right to asylum and the last Afghans waves in Europe, each step – therefore, the selection of beneficiaries, the transfer, the international protection’s application, the Territorial Commission’s decision, reception and integration – is analysed. What emerges from this research is that cooperation between the government and civil society has been valuable and relevant for a better implementation; even if it is possible to notice that the full implementation has met lacks, nontransparent information and a not fully organised and efficient system
