In care professions, and specifically in social work, the number of female professionals is much higher than that of male colleagues. The aim of the paper is to reflect on this issue. The first part of the paper seeks to explore the issue of gender on a broader level and the relationship between the labor market and the female gender, with a focus on social work, its representations and history. In the second part of the paper we will present the qualitative research conducted through the instrument of semi-structured interview with some social workers working in the Padua area. The aim of the research is to explore the views of social workers regarding the issue of gender within the profession.
Nelle professioni di cura e, nello specifico, nel servizio sociale, il numero di professioniste donne è molto più elevato rispetto a quello dei colleghi uomini. L’obiettivo dell’elaborato è quello di riflettere su tale tematica. La prima parte dell’elaborato vuole approfondire, anzitutto, la questione di genere a livello più ampio e, in seguito, il rapporto tra il mercato del lavoro e il genere femminile, con un focus sul servizio sociale, le sue rappresentazioni e la sua storia. Nella seconda parte dell’elaborato, invece, si presenterà la ricerca qualitativa condotta tramite lo strumento dell’intervista semi-strutturata ad alcune assistenti sociali che operano nel territorio padovano. L’obiettivo della ricerca è esplorare il punto di vista delle assistenti sociali riguardo la questione di genere all’interno della professione.
