Trafficking in human beings (THB) is a complex phenomenon that most people are unaware of. Forms of THB differing from sexual and labour exploitation are particularly unknown. It is the case of forced begging. In the Italian case, many indicators coming from civil society, the legislative level and the judiciary sphere suggest that the phenomenon is undoubtedly present but definitely under the radar. Although Italy is in line with international standards and has one of the most advanced anti-trafficking systems in Europe, some obstacles may impede the effective emersion of the phenomenon while making its victims invisible. This thesis aims to turn the spotlight on such an ignored issue to demonstrate the importance of finally approaching it properly.

Abstract
Trafficking in human beings (THB) is a complex phenomenon that most people are unaware of. Forms of THB differing from sexual and labour exploitation are particularly unknown. It is the case of forced begging. In the Italian case, many indicators coming from civil society, the legislative level and the judiciary sphere suggest that the phenomenon is undoubtedly present but definitely under the radar. Although Italy is in line with international standards and has one of the most advanced anti-trafficking systems in Europe, some obstacles may impede the effective emersion of the phenomenon while making its victims invisible. This thesis aims to turn the spotlight on such an ignored issue to demonstrate the importance of finally approaching it properly.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
