The particular history of China's economic development, lagging behind the rest of Western economies, has led to the emergence of unique characteristics in the management practices of companies that are based on or have references to the Chinese cultural tradition. We are therefore talking about rituals, beliefs, and philosophical elements such as Confucianism, which, having been the most widely followed religion in Chinese history, including by political institutions, has given rise to many characteristic elements in management methods. I first analysed the economic and historical context in which modern businesses developed and then went on to extrapolate the various management practices that have elements of tradition.

Abstract

The particular history of China's economic development, lagging behind the rest of Western economies, has led to the emergence of unique characteristics in the management practices of companies that are based on or have references to the Chinese cultural tradition. We are therefore talking about rituals, beliefs, and philosophical elements such as Confucianism, which, having been the most widely followed religion in Chinese history, including by political institutions, has given rise to many characteristic elements in management methods. I first analysed the economic and historical context in which modern businesses developed and then went on to extrapolate the various management practices that have elements of tradition.
