In a hyper connected word, our everyday life is more and more influenced by technologies, in particular the Internet of Things, which has a key role in this technological evolution. The IoT is the enabler for smart connected products such as: smartwatches, smartphones, smart mobility systems and much more. These products are able to collect and generate a huge amount of data that that firms mainly exploit for economic reason. Nowadays, sustainability is becoming a core topic for many firms. For this reason the purpose of the present work is to investigate the relationship that occurs between smart objects and Big Data, the role that firms have in this technological evolution and how these companies can exploit data generated from IoT to achieve sustainability goals.
