The text called 'Livro das Aves' consists of a bestiary about birds in medieval Portuguese, a free translation of the Latin work 'Aviarium' written by the French monk Ugo de Fouilloy. The text is only partially handed down by a single manuscript dating back to the 14th century, and kept by Brasilia's University Library. This study aims to investigate this testimony by a philological, linguistic and literary perspective.
Il Livro das Aves consiste in un bestiario sugli uccelli in lingua portoghese arcaica, libera traduzione dell' opera latina Aviarium del chierico francese Ugo de Fouilloy. Il testo è tramandato solo parzialmente da un unico testimone, un codice risalente al XIV secolo conservato dalla Biblioteca dell'Università di Brasilia. Lo studio in oggetto vuole indagare tale testimonianza nei suoi aspetti filologici, linguistici e testuali.
