'Nature' is a socially complex term. Due to this complexity, it eludes the often too simplistic, objective descriptions. Nature is present in everyday life and the educational world - it is an essential aspect of it. As the philosopher Arne Næss says: we human beings can know nature through profound experiences that make our relationship with her especially unique (Næss, p.20, 2015). This connection is the starting point for my research in Denmark, trying to understand what nature means to the educators working in a 'skov’, or in the ‘forest’ nursery. Which experiences, what material used, what ideas of nature that guides educational practices. Drawing inspiration from these educational systems can lead to realistic and sustainable everyday changes that can also affect nurseries in Italy. We will dive deeper into this towards the end of the thesis.
“Natura” è un termine socialmente complesso, insito di teorie che sfugge ad una descrizione oggettiva quasi sempre semplicista. Eppure, è presente quotidianamente nelle nostre conversazioni e nel mondo dell’educazione, ne costituisce un aspetto essenziale. Come sostiene il filosofo Arne Næss, noi esseri umani possiamo conoscere la natura attraverso il mondo delle esperienze profonde che rendono la relazione con Lei sensibilmente unica (Næss, p.20, 2015). Da questa profondità prende avvio la mia ricerca in Danimarca, cercando di capire cosa significa natura per le educatrici e gli educatori che lavorano in un asilo nido “skov” ovvero, “nella foresta”. Quali esperienze vengono pensate, quale materiale viene usato, quale idea di natura guida le pratiche educative. Trarre ispirazione, è quella spinta d’azione per cambiamenti quotidiani possibili e sostenibili che, come vedremo nella parte finale, possono interessare anche gli asili nido in Italia.
