Breast cancer in young women represents a potentially traumatic experience that can have a considerable impact on the different stages of life that each of them faces: the diagnosis of cancer has the potential to trigger anticipatory mourning processes linked to a series of similar inevitable losses that affect the life experience. Narrative can assume a decisive role in integrating this event in order to construct personal meaning, reconfigure temporal perspectives during the illness process, and progress through the life course. In this study, the Meaning of Loss Codebook (MLC) was applied to the illness experience of 17 women under the age of 50, who were administered an ad hoc narrative interview at four different points during the first year of treatment. The methodology was configured to be bottom-up and top-down through a thematic analysis that highlighted the Codebook's usefulness in capturing nuances of meaning embodied in the narratives of their experiences.

Abstract
The methodology was configured to be bottom-up and top-down through a thematic analysis that highlighted the Codebook's usefulness in capturing nuances of meaning embodied in the narratives of their experiences.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
