Over the last 10 years, an increasing number of research outputs have focused on the so-called "refugee gap", i.e., the great difficulty encountered by asylum seekers and refugees in entering the labour market. Such difficulty entails a high risk of social and professional marginalisation for this group. The aim of this study is, first, to identify and synthesise the results of the research on career development and guidance offered to the target population. Secondly, it proposes a reflection on the most effective characteristics and approaches that could be possibly included in the professional practice of career counseling and in the future planning of career interventions. To this end, the study carries out a systematic review of the international empirical and theoretical-applicative literature published by October 2022, using the PRISMA model. The conclusions drawn from the 16 publications analysed are explored in the light of further theoretical contributions, and the relevant practical implications are discussed from three different outlooks: the beneficiaries, career guidance and career counseling services, and training and competences of professionals in the field of career interventions.

Abstract
The conclusions drawn from the 16 publications analysed are explored in the light of further theoretical contributions, and the relevant practical implications are discussed from three different outlooks: the beneficiaries, career guidance and career counseling services, and training and competences of professionals in the field of career interventions.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
