This thesis work is focused on the probabilistic study of the structural safety of existing bridges and viaducts. After a careful study of the regulations that have regulated traffic loads since 1900 in Italy, two coefficients have been obtained. These coefficients, defined as level 3 and level 4, respectively represent a ratio between "current" demand and project demand, and a ratio between "current" demand and residual capacity of the section. The results obtained have the function of framing the structural safety of the studied bridge. From these coefficients, a proposal was made to update the Guidelines for existing bridges, published in 2020, to facilitate the creation of a list sorted by priority of existing bridges in the national territory and make this list more usable. Finally, the probability of failure of existing bridges was studied through Monte Carlo simulations, considering different span spans and different design periods.

Abstract
Finally, the probability of failure of existing bridges was studied through Monte Carlo simulations, considering different span spans and different design periods.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
