The research focuses on the exploration of the autofiction book "Sangre en el ojo" (2012) and the essay "Zona ciega" (2021), two works by the Chilean writer Lina Meruane, whose fil rouge is the sense of vision in its sick, unfocused and critical existence. In the first place, it shows the committed and critical way in which the artist looks at and moves in the world, asking herself continuous questions that are articulated through rebellious words and marginal protagonists, bodies in crisis. Secondly, the thesis focuses on the work "Sangre en el ojo" investigating the fields of uncertainty built through an unfocused vision, born from the half blind eye of the protagonist, an almost blindness that transforms and becomes dangerous for any established system questioning its confines. Finally, a journey is created through "Zona ciega", a compilation of essays on vision and blindness. The work analyzes the connections between vision, power and words. Starting from the systematic killing of the eye that the Chilean army puts into practice in 2019 against a citizens' revolt, it moves to a carefully review of the literary discourse, written by male hands, about blindness. At the end, the writer put into words the eye's diseases suffered - and never said - by some Latin American women writers, called by Meruane "las casi ciegas".
La búsqueda se centra en la exploración del libro de autoficción “Sangre en el ojo” (2012) y del ensayo “Zona ciega” (2021), dos obras de la escritora chilena Lina Meruane, cuyo hilo rojo es el sentido de la visión en su existencia enferma, desenfocada y crítica. En primer lugar, se muestra, recorriendo todo el trayecto de escritura de la autora, la manera comprometida y crítica en que la artista mira y se mueve en el mundo, poniéndose continuas preguntas que se articulan a través de palabras rebeldes y de protagonistas marginales, cuerpos en crisis. En segundo lugar, la tesis se enfoca en la obra “Sangre en el ojo” indagando los campos de incertidumbre construidos a través de una visión desenfocada, nacida de la ceguera a medias padecida por el ojo de la protagonista, una casi ceguera que se transforma y se vuelve peligrosa para todo sistema establecido cuestionando sus confines. Por último, se construye un recorrido a través de “Zona ciega”, una recopilación de ensayos sobre la visión y la ceguera. La obra analiza las conexiones entre visión, poder y palabras. Partiendo de la matanza sistemática del ojo que el ejército chileno pone en práctica en 2019 contra una revuelta de los ciudadanos, pasa a revisar atentamente el discurso literario, escrito por manos masculinas, acerca de la ceguera, para llegar a la puesta en palabras de las enfermedades del ojo sufridas – y nunca dichas – por algunas escritoras latinoamericanas, las “casi ciegas”.
