The aim of this paper is to analyze the status of today's scientific literature regarding child-caregiver skin-to-skin contact, with a focus on affective touch. Affective touch is defined as touch capable of activating C-tactile cells, which are present on the hairy areas of our skin and afferent to brain structures responsible for the integration of exteroceptive/interoceptive information (e.g., insula). The study present in the third chapter, aims to investigate the differences, in children in an age group of 3-6 years, in terms of heart rate (HR) under two conditions : affective touch vs non-affective touch. HR was recorded while watching videos with different emotional valences, each lasting 2 minutes.

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyze the status of today's scientific literature regarding child-caregiver skin-to-skin contact, with a focus on affective touch. Affective touch is defined as touch capable of activating C-tactile cells, which are present on the hairy areas of our skin and afferent to brain structures responsible for the integration of exteroceptive/interoceptive information (e.g., insula). The study present in the third chapter, aims to investigate the differences, in children in an age group of 3-6 years, in terms of heart rate (HR) under two conditions : affective touch vs non-affective touch. HR was recorded while watching videos with different emotional valences, each lasting 2 minutes.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
