Villa Contarini a Piazzola sul Brenta. Un'officina del dramma per musica di tardo Seicento.

This paper analyses the process of the affirmation of drama for music and Venetian theatre and then focuses on Villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta, a place that, at the behest of its owner Marco Contarini, became a veritable workshop in which splendid melodramas and operas set to music were produced and staged, in the presence of many illustrious guests of the Procurator. The last section is in fact dedicated to an analysis of the opera librettos produced for the Teatro delle Vergini in which the 'daughters of the place' were employed, the young girls guests of the conservatory built by Contarini in which the orphans found shelter and were instructed in singing and music, to then be employed in the sumptuous theatrical performances in the palace.

L'elaborato analizza il processo di affermazione del dramma per musica e del teatro veneziano per concentrarsi poi su villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta, luogo che per volere del proprietario Marco Contarini diventa una vera e propria officina in cui vengono prodotti e portati in scena splendidi melodrammi e opere in musica, alla presenza di molteplici ospiti illustri del Procuratore. L'ultima sezione è infatti dedicata all'analisi dei libretti d'opera realizzati per il teatro delle Vergini nel quale venivano impiegate le "figlie del luoco", le fanciulle ospiti del conservatorio realizzato da Contarini in cui le orfane trovavano ricovero e venivano istruite al canto e alla musica, per poi essere impiegate nelle sontuose rappresentazioni teatrali nel palazzo.
