Abstract
The extraordinary power of music that is attested to us since myths and the Homeric poems find a theorization starting from the fifth century BC, with the doctrine of the ethos of Damon, which exerted a deep influence on the musical theory of the following centuries. The goal of this text, in fact, is to retrace his tracks through the study of the sources of the theorists who, after him, have dedicated themselves to this investigation, reflecting on the ability of music to influence the human body and soul. From the paideutic value entrusted to him in antiquity, up to psychomusicology and musical psychogagy, the reflection concludes with the elaboration of the modern theory of affects and musical rhetoric.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
