The following thesis aims to analyze the thought of Ernesto Laclau regarding populism as a political practice aimed at constructing the people as a subject. In particular, it confronts his conception of the people as equivalential chain with Marx's theory of the general form of value and the following appearance of subsumption, considering the implications of this concept for modern political philosophy.The aim of the study is to explore the populist scenario built up by Laclau with regard to his original conception of the political subject, highlighting its strengths and limitations.
La presente tesi si propone di analizzare il pensiero di Ernesto Laclau riguardo al populismo come pratica politica volta alla costruzione del popolo come soggetto. In particolare, si confronta la sua concezione del popolo come catena equivalenziale con la teoria marxiana della forma generale di valore e il rapporto di sussunzione che ne consegue, considerando le implicazioni di questa rilettura per la filosofia politica moderna. L'obiettivo del percorso svolto è quello di esplorare lo scenario populista evocato da Laclau in merito alla sua originale concezione del soggetto politico, così da evidenziarne limiti e punti di forza.
