This paper presents the theme of physiological synchronization between patient and therapist, observed from a micro-process perspective. Based on the theoretical premises of embodiment, thereby overcoming the mind-body dualism, the research work presented offers an exploratory look at the physiological dynamics underlying the relationship modalities activated in the context of the therapeutic relationship. In particular, the participants of the study exposed in this paper are two patients with opposite diagnoses, being treated with a brief dynamic psychotherapy. The physiological index taken into consideration for this study is skin conductance. Any synchronization between patient and therapist was compared with the moment-by-moment analysis of the various types of intervention proposed by the therapist. On the one hand, the purpose of the paper is to present the results relating to the therapeutic interventions most closely linked to high levels of synchronization. On the other hand, the investigation will also compare the synchronization of the two patients with the therapist, with the aim of verifying whether one diagnosis is associated with a greater patient-therapist physiological synchronization.

Abstract
On the other hand, the investigation will also compare the synchronization of the two patients with the therapist, with the aim of verifying whether one diagnosis is associated with a greater patient-therapist physiological synchronization.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
