Oblivious Password Recovery for Genesis Wallets in a decentralized, trustless environment

The work focuses on Genesis wallets, these wallets were created during the presale of Ethereum, and many of them have been idle for years now. At first, I analyzed Genesis wallets to identify vulnerabilities in the encryption process. Then I designed and developed the proof-of-concept of a password recovery service for Genesis wallets that does not disclose sensitive data to other parties. The service will perform a fair exchange between two parties in exchange for the recovered password by using Adaptor Signatures and will be compliant with Ethereum blockchain technology.

Il lavoro di tesi si concentra sui Genesis wallets, questi wallet sono stati creati durante la prevendita di Ethereum e molti di questi non hanno effettuato alcuna operazione da anni ormai. Inizialmente ho analizzato i Genesi wallets per identificare delle vulnerabilità nel processo di cifratura. In seguito ho progettato e sviluppato il proof-of-concept di un servizio di recupero password per Genesis wallets che permette di non rivelare dati sensibili del wallet a terze parti. Il servizio effettuerà un fair exchange tra due parti in cambio della password recuperata utilizzando le Adaptor Signatures, il tutto compatibilmente con la tecnologia blockchain di Ethereum.
