Santa Barbara: un lento sviluppo iconografico tra storia e culto.

The purpose of the paper is to relate the iconographic developments that the figure of Santa Barbara has undergone over time. Referring to the hagiographic sources, the life of the Saint has been covered, paying attention to the change that her iconography undergoes. The first chapter deals with the problems of the iconographic method and how to approach an iconographic study related to sacred art. The second chapter deals with the life of the Saint, thanks to the help of the hagiographies. In the last chapter there is a large array of images, starting from Byzantine icons to more modern painting. There will be comparisons between major and minor arts. An integral part will be the reliquaries.

Scopo dell'elaborato è mettere in relazione gli sviluppi iconografici che la figura di Santa Barbara ha subito nel tempo. Facendo riferimento alle fonti agiografiche si è percorsa la vita della Santa, facendo attenzione al cambio che la sua iconografia subisce. Nel primo capitolo si affrontano i problemi del metodo iconografico e come affrontare uno studio iconografico relativo all'arte sacra. Nel secondo capitolo si affronta la vita della Santa, grazie all'ausilio delle agiografie. Nell'ultimo capitolo si ha un grande apparato di immagini, partendo dalle icone bizantine fino alla pittura più moderna. Ci saranno confronti tra arti maggiori e minori. Parte integrante l'avranno i reliquiari.
