In this paper, we will shed light on three variables analyzed through the administration of questionnaires among a sample of adolescents and pre-adolescents from some Italian schools. The variables under consideration are social media, emotional regulation, and self-esteem. Firstly, we analyzed the relationship between social media and self-esteem. As previously investigated in other studies, we expected that higher use, a greater tendency to engage in upward virtual comparisons, and increased passive use of different online platforms would be associated with lower levels of self-esteem. Secondly, we explored the relationship between social media and emotion regulation, and consequently, the relationship between self-esteem and emotion regulation. Finally, the purpose of this research was to explore the role of self-esteem and the role of emotion regulation as possible moderators in the relationship between the examined variables.

Abstract
Finally, the purpose of this research was to explore the role of self-esteem and the role of emotion regulation as possible moderators in the relationship between the examined variables.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
