The present study investigated ethnic disparities in the therapist-patient relationship in psychotherapy, focusing on psychology students and trainees. An experimental design was employed using a fictional clinical scenario. The results revealed the presence of disparities in participants' expectations and behaviors towards the patient belonging to the ethnic minority. Furthermore, it emerged that dehumanizing perceptions of the patient were associated with these disparities. The study's findings highlight the need for awareness regarding ethnic disparities within the field of psychotherapy, and targeted interventions may help reduce such inequalities. However, further research is required to confirm and generalize these results, taking into account a variety of ethnic groups and real clinical relationships.
