This thesis intersects human rights and social psychology to examine hate speech during military conflict. It defines hate speech, identifies its unique features, and explores the psychological processes and factors that lead to it. A critical part of this work is an empirical study comparing individuals who engage in hate speech with those who advocate counter-speech during armed conflict. Importantly, the research reveals protective factors that can reduce hate speech, thus improving communication during conflict. These findings offer valuable insights for policies and conflict resolution strategies.
