In this research, using W. Bucci's multiple code theory as a theoretical reference, we aimed to evaluate the outcome and some aspects of the process of an Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy. Specifically, the present single case study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention and to determine whether ISTDP promotes change through the intense activation, from the beginning of psychotherapy, not only of the sub-symbolic representations of dissociated emotional schemas, but also of the symbolic verbal representations (in the terms of verbalizing affects and reflecting on them). Our research, from the results of the SCL-90-R and IIP_32 self-report questionnaires and the analysis performed through IDAAP on the transcripts of the psychotherapy sessions, has attested the positive outcome of the intervention and subsequently concluded that high levels of emotional verbalization and reflection on emotional schemas can be found from the beginning of the intervention. In addition, the analysis of the trend of the linguistic measures obtained through IDAAP led to useful clinical reflections on the process of change activated in the ISTDP that was studied.

Abstract
In addition, the analysis of the trend of the linguistic measures obtained through IDAAP led to useful clinical reflections on the process of change activated in the ISTDP that was studied.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
