L'Europa a confronto con la dittatura: la richiesta di associazione della Spagna alla CEE del 1962

With this thesis I want to analyze the Spanish request for association with the EEC in 1962. After a historical excursus, necessary to understand the international context in which Spain was inserted, I will proceed with an analysis of the request itself, and the different reactions gathered within the Community, starting from the famous Birkelbach Report, to arrive at the acts carried out by the Council and the Commission, in particular up to June 1962. The stalemate that will arise will be motivated by a series of relevant events, ended by the definitive block as a consequence of the " crisis of the empty chair" wanted by De Gaulle.

Con questa tesi si vuole analizzare la richiesta di associazione spagnola alla CEE nel 1962. Dopo un excursus storico necessario per comprendere il contesto internazionale nel quale la Spagna era inserita, si procederà con una analisi della richiesta stessa, e le diverse reazioni raccolte in seno alla Comunità, partendo dal celebre Rapporto Birkelbach, per arrivare agli atti portati avanti da Consiglio e Commissione, in particolare fino al giugno 1962. Lo stallo che verrà a crearsi verrà motivato da una serie di eventi rilevanti, per giungere al blocco definitivo come conseguenza della "crisi della sedia vuota" voluta da De Gaulle.
