In manufacturing industries, for applications such as welding and gluing, robots have to follow repeatedly established paths. For this reason having a system that automatically tells the robot which path it needs to follow instead of teaching it with the teach pendant could be very convenient. This work is supposed to improve the capabilities and performances of a previous master thesis project, focusing also on a better implementation that allows the user to supervise the steps of the process (change parameters, discard contours, visualize steps results). The application has been tested on a real robot, proving the effectiveness of this work.

Abstract

In manufacturing industries, for applications such as welding and gluing, robots have to follow repeatedly established paths. For this reason having a system that automatically tells the robot which path it needs to follow instead of teaching it with the teach pendant could be very convenient. This work is supposed to improve the capabilities and performances of a previous master thesis project, focusing also on a better implementation that allows the user to supervise the steps of the process (change parameters, discard contours, visualize steps results). The application has been tested on a real robot, proving the effectiveness of this work.

Development of an application for robot guidance system based on images or CAD drawings
