In light of the continuous increase in the elderly population, this thesis aims to deal with the main mechanisms of motor, cognitive and cerebral aging and the emotional-affective implications that characterize the aging process, with the purpose of underlining the importance of physical exercise in promotion of healthy aging. In particular, we want to delve deeper into the discipline of dance as a valid alternative to common training methods, thanks to the benefits it is able to bring at a motor, cognitive and cerebral level in healthy and clinical populations. Regarding this last point, attention is focused on the usefulness that dance can have in Parkinson's disease, whose motor and non-motor components can be significantly influenced by this type of intervention. Dance, in fact, manages to recreate conditions similar to an enriched environment, the benefits of which impact not only on the severity of the disease, but also on its psychological and social implications.

Abstract
Dance, in fact, manages to recreate conditions similar to an enriched environment, the benefits of which impact not only on the severity of the disease, but also on its psychological and social implications.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
