Rojava is the part of Kurdistan internationally recognised as a region of the Syrian Arab Republic, whose demands of autonomy have been increasing in the last decades. Kurdish people of this region have been known, for the past few years, for their role in the fight against the Islamic State, but their story has deeper roots. The aim of this work is that of analysing these roots together with the historical context in which the Kurdish nationalism was born, in order to understand the origins of the Kurdish people and the international perspectives of these demands in the Middle East context
