Simulation is a widely used teaching methodology for the clinical training of students and healthcare professionals. It can represent a valid strategy for teaching, learning and evaluating clinical skills at different levels of education: undergraduate, postgraduate and lifelong. The application of this educational method by a trainer without adequate and specific training can result ineffective (not allowing the development of the expected skills and competences) and inefficient (waste of material resources and time) the training action. A review of the currently existing international literature was conducted to define the skills necessary for the trainer, specifically healthcare professionals, so that the application of simulation improves the learning process of the student/professional in the clinical - healthcare field (basic and permanent). The analysis of the training needs of healthcare trainers was carried out in depth through secondary literature. The aim of the study consist in the development of a training course to implement the trainer's skills in order to make him "expert" in the use of simulation as a teaching/learning method.
