Abstract
An essential aspect in the design of an electrical installation is the "insulation coordination study". The purpose of this study is to determine the correct sizing of the insulations and equipment that make up the system for adequate protection against the overvoltages to which the system is subjected during operation. The insulation coordination study, being fundamental, is the subject of technical regulations that define its principles and methods. The use of software for electromagnetic transient simulations can be of great help in the analysis of overvoltages and thus in the isolation coordination study. In particular, in this paper, the isolation coordination of a high-voltage cable line created with the intention of connecting the substation of a Battery Energy Storage System to the national power grid is studied. This study sets out the analytical procedure described by the IEC 60071 standard, accompanied by the results of dynamic simulations of the overvoltages to which the cable line may be subjected. Finally, the results of the two studies are compared and conclusions are drawn as to the usefulness of these simulations in the study of insulation coordination.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
