In the field of stigmatized knowledge, the phenomenon of conspiracy theories has taken on a new dimension with the digital era. Firstly this research aims to define, within a theoretical framework, the sociological theories that explain the phenomenon along with observable differences in history. It also aims to explore the social motivations that drive individuals to conform or not to a particular representation of reality. The primary focus is related to the stigma perpetrated against individuals labeled as conspiracy theorists and the relationship between various fields within the social structure of society. Consequently, reference is made to the ways in which mass media and institutions can influence public opinion and create a common enemy. Secondly, the research delves into the peculiar influence that the Web has on the phenomenon, specifically focusing on the topic of "social networks". Through a qualitative analysis of the content within channels that constitute the conspiracy sphere on social platforms, the study seeks to understand the dynamics that drive conspiracy narratives during specific periods of time and how the occurrence of certain events is fundamental to the narrative's development and evolution. The fundamental factor of censorship in the strategy adopted by conspiracy groups in choosing one platform over another is also emphasized. The ultimate goal of the research is to provide a comprehensive overview of a phenomenon that has gained significant popularity in recent decades. The advent of the internet marked an era in which certain beliefs have, for the first time, a "social stage" where actors have their own virtual space to retreat and seek refuge from stigma. This virtual space, well represented by the various channels on social networks, have characterized in the new century a study area of the phenomenon allowing for conclusions and analyses on various aspects of conspiracy theories and the related social impact.

Abstract
This virtual space, well represented by the various channels on social networks, have characterized in the new century a study area of the phenomenon allowing for conclusions and analyses on various aspects of conspiracy theories and the related social impact.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
