This thesis aims to explore the gender difference in the reaction to physical rehabilitation exercise in workers subjected to manual work, evaluating the physiological variables, the differences in the adaptation mechanisms and the psychological aspects that can influence the recovery process. Gender, i.e. the concept of roles, behaviours, activities and attributes that society deems appropriate for men and women, and sex, the various biological and anatomical-physiological characteristics, are relatively new terms in ergonomics research and interact to produce differential risks and weakness to disease. The link between gender and occupational risks should therefore be considered and integrated into risk assessment, preventive measures and health and safety management.

Abstract
This thesis aims to explore the gender difference in the reaction to physical rehabilitation exercise in workers subjected to manual work, evaluating the physiological variables, the differences in the adaptation mechanisms and the psychological aspects that can influence the recovery process. Gender, i.e. the concept of roles, behaviours, activities and attributes that society deems appropriate for men and women, and sex, the various biological and anatomical-physiological characteristics, are relatively new terms in ergonomics research and interact to produce differential risks and weakness to disease. The link between gender and occupational risks should therefore be considered and integrated into risk assessment, preventive measures and health and safety management.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
