The recent interest in climate change and the imminent need to make changes to reduce its impact is making people around the world more concerned about the impact of industrial activities on the planet. This newfound awareness has brought to light the significant role that companies play in shaping the environmental landscape. Consumers, activists, and shareholders are now more attentive to the ecological consequences of business operations, supply chains and product life cycles. So, a greater level of transparency, accountability and responsible practices is demanded from corporations across all industries, including the cosmetic sector, on which this research is focused. Businesses are increasingly acknowledging their role in contributing to global environmental challenges and are embracing sustainability as a core principle in their operations. Through sustainable sourcing, reduced carbon footprints, waste reduction, and eco-friendly packaging, companies are actively seeking to minimize their negative impact on the environment This increasing awareness has also sparked innovation, as companies invest in research and development to create more sustainable products and technologies, and led to tangible benefits, such as improved brand reputation, increased customer loyalty, and access to a growing market of environmentally conscious consumers. The purpose of this study is to highlight how sustainability can be applied to the cosmetic industry.

Abstract

Sustainability practices in the cosmetic industry: an empirical study
