Il Primo Congresso dei Deputati del Popolo dell’Unione Sovietica e il ruolo politico di Andrej Sacharov.

The aim of this dissertation is to analyse the political role of Andrei Sakharov within his participation in the First Congress of People's Deputies of the Soviet Union. The first chapter deals with the historical context in which the First Congress took place, i.e. during the period of perestroika, initiated and carried out by Michail Gorbačëv. The years from 1985 to 1989 were characterised by a series of radical reforms, both political and economic, which were part of the new government policy of openness and transparency. The second chapter deals with the first session of the Congress of People's Deputies that took place from 25 May to 9 June 1989. The actual and symbolic importance of the session of the new organ of state power is highlighted, and the structure, functions and contents addressed by the deputies are described. The third and final chapter examines the figure of Andrei Sakharov, nuclear physicist, human rights activist and People's Deputy, and his special contribution to the Congress through an analysis of his speeches.

La presente tesi di laurea si pone l’obiettivo di analizzare il ruolo politico di Andrej Sacharov in relazione alla sua partecipazione al Primo Congresso dei Deputati del Popolo dell’Unione Sovietica. Il primo capitolo tratta il contesto storico in cui il primo Congresso ebbe luogo, ovvero durante il periodo della perestrojka, iniziato e portato avanti da Michail Gorbačëv. Gli anni dal 1985 al 1989 furono caratterizzati da una serie di radicali riforme, tanto politiche quanto economiche, che rientrano nella nuova politica di governo di apertura e trasparenza. Il secondo capitolo tratta la prima sessione del Congresso dei Deputati del popolo che ebbe luogo dal 25 maggio al 9 giugno 1989. Vengono evidenziati l’importanza effettiva e simbolica della seduta del nuovo organo del potere statale, vengono descritte la struttura, le funzioni e i contenuti affrontati dai deputati. Il terzo e ultimo capitolo prende in esame la figura di Andrej Sacharov, fisico nucleare, attivista per i diritti umani e deputato del popolo, e il suo speciale contributo al Congresso, attraverso l’analisi dei suoi interventi.
