SENGHOR ET LA VISION D'UNE AFRIQUE POSTCOLONIALE

This thesis explores the life and work of Léopold Sédar Senghor, an important figure in 20th century Francophone literature and political thought. The study begins by tracing Senghor's life, from his youth in Senegal to his political career as the first president of independent Senegal. The analysis then focuses on his role as a poet, examining how his poetry evolved over time and how it was influenced by his personal experiences and political engagement. Part of the thesis is devoted to the notion of 'Négritude', a literary and cultural concept he helped develop with Aimé Césaire and Léon-Gontran Damas. This section explores the central ideas of Négritude, including the celebration of African culture, the fight against racism and the promotion of black pride. In addition it examines Senghor's role in promoting Francophonie, both nationally and internationally. His work to make French a language of cultural and political expression in the post-colonial world is also analysed.

Ce mémoire explore la vie et l'œuvre de Léopold Sédar Senghor, une figure importante de la littérature et de la pensée politique francophones du XXe siècle. Il commence par retracer la vie de Senghor, de sa jeunesse au Sénégal à sa carrière politique en tant que premier président du Sénégal indépendant. L'analyse se concentre ensuite sur son rôle de poète, en examinant comment sa poésie a évolué au fil du temps et comment elle a été influencée par ses expériences personnelles et son engagement politique. Une partie du mémoire est consacrée à la notion de "Négritude", un concept littéraire et culturel qu'il a contribué à développer avec Aimé Césaire et Léon-Gontran Damas. Cette section explore les idées centrales de la Négritude, y compris la célébration de la culture africaine, la lutte contre le racisme et la promotion de la fierté noire. En outre, le memoire examine le rôle de Senghor dans la promotion de la francophonie, tant au niveau national qu'international. Son travail pour faire du français une langue d'expression culturelle et politique dans le monde post-colonial est également analysé.
