This dissertation studies the change in the translation of speaking names from the English literature to the Italian literature, analysing speaking names in the original books of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-glass by Lewis Carrol and three of their Italian translations: 1971 translation by Masolino d’Amico, 2003 translation by Alessandro Ceni and 2010 translation for children by Donatella Zilioto and Antonio Lugli. A study that focuses on understanding what speaking names represent in literature and why their translation is so important to the transposition of information to a culture different from the original one.
