Ecosystem services valuations are a simple and concrete way to spread awareness not only among scientists and policy makers, but also general public about the impact of biodiversity loss. Indeed, they benefit from a holistic approach that merges natural sciences and social sciences, as well as a quantifiable economic impact that could lead to better informed decisions on territorial development. Investigating different stakeholders’ perceptions of ecosystem services and the landscape associated thus might be a valuable instrument to understand how to leverage the benefits they provide, as well as to target strategies to deal with the disservices they might carry. An explicit spatial approach that analyses the landscape heterogeneity and its relation to the polarization of ecosystem services perceptions could enable to understand which value is given to biodiversity of wild species and their habitat, as well as the landscape.
