Preliminary feasibility study on offshore wind farms development in Brazil

The thesis regards a preliminary feasibility study of offshore wind plants along the Brazilian coasts. The analysis starts from a general framework of the features of the wind, of the bathymetry and of the Brazilian ports, and then it shrinks the wideness of the the area of study through adequate analysis and statistical data. Approximated cases of study of possible wind farms installations are also present. The study is based on the uso of GIS software (Geographic Information Systems) and on the analysis of technical and economic parameters, in particular the annual producibility, the net present value (NPV) and the levelised cost of electricity (LCOE).

La tesi riguarda uno studio preliminare di fattibilità di impianti eolici offshore sulle coste del Brasile. L'analisi parte da una generale visione delle caratteristiche del vento, della batimetria e dei porti brasiliani, per poi diminuire l'ampiezza dell'area di studio tramite adeguate analisi e dati statistici. Vengono poi presentati degli approssimativi casi di studio di possibili installazioni di campi eolici. Lo studio è basato sull'uso di software GIS (Geographic Information Systems) e l'analisi di parametri tecnici ed economici, in particolare la produzione annua, il valore attuale netto (VAN) e il costo dell'energia elettrica prodotta.
