«I have always been a realist, without knowing it. I have always believed in the outside world and in the possibility of knowledge of it.». René Girard, with this statement contained in his conversations in "Evolution and Conversion: Dialogues on the Origins of Culture", gives his research and theorizing work a realist imprint. Such realism raises the question regarding a possible reflection of the theories of the French philosopher and anthropologist in the field of political realism. Can Girard therefore be included in the category of political realists? Starting from the search for a definition of political realism, primarily analyzing the one formulated by professor Pier Paolo Portinaro, this thesis will investigate aspects of some Girardian works that may fall under that definition.

Abstract
«I have always been a realist, without knowing it. I have always believed in the outside world and in the possibility of knowledge of it.». René Girard, with this statement contained in his conversations in "Evolution and Conversion: Dialogues on the Origins of Culture", gives his research and theorizing work a realist imprint. Such realism raises the question regarding a possible reflection of the theories of the French philosopher and anthropologist in the field of political realism. Can Girard therefore be included in the category of political realists? Starting from the search for a definition of political realism, primarily analyzing the one formulated by professor Pier Paolo Portinaro, this thesis will investigate aspects of some Girardian works that may fall under that definition.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
