Circular Food Waste Valorization: the Case of Spent Coffee Grounds

Food waste poses a significant global challenge that demands concerted efforts to elevate Circular Economy (CE) implementation. This study addresses the specific challenge of Spent Coffee Grounds (SCGs), a significant waste stream from the coffee industry. The research is prompted by the concerns of a vending machine company seeking to enhance its commitment to CE principles. A literature review has been conducted to comprehensively explore the potential applications of SCGs, categorizing them by sector/industry. Subsequently, the study delves into a proposed solution tailored to the challenges faced by the vending machine company.
