Indonesia is not exempt from the global trend of social media users increasing. The increasing number of social media users can be attributed to social media's good role as a tool for a person to retain social relationships with people while also satisfying the demand for pleasure, proximity, and popularity. Furthermore, social media can serve as a support system for some people. On the other hand, excessive social media use might make someone fear of missing out on something (FoMO). Fear of missing out on important experiences and the need to be up to date with others' activities are the hallmarks of FOMO. The easy access to information supplied by social media platforms may lead people to compare their lives to the lives of those they only know through the content on social media platforms. People will consequently be less content with their lives and find other people's activities to be more fascinating. The purpose of this study is to learn how social media and the fear of missing out affect life satisfaction among Indonesia's younger generation. Moreover, to gain a deeper comprehension of the potential influence of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) on the correlation between social media addiction and life satisfaction. This survey included 476 young individuals who live in Indonesia and use at least one social media platform. According to this study's findings, social media addiction significantly increases FoMO, and FoMO significantly lowers life satisfaction. Furthermore, it was discovered that the impact of social media addiction on life satisfaction is partially mediated by the fear of missing out (FOMO).
