Corporate Governance and Regulatory Responses in Financial Services: Analyzing Market Failures and Reform Initiatives

The financial services industry plays a crucial role in modern economies by providing several essential functions. As we have repeatedly seen in the last decades, financial firms’ failures can have massive consequences on the whole economy, and it is therefore imperative to ensure the sector's stability and integrity. The two pillars to safeguard it are healthy corporate governance and effective regulatory oversight. My research focuses on some major financial scandals, analyzing the failures in governance and the impact on regulation, and discussing how corporate governance practices and regulatory reform influence each other in the financial industry.
