The field of entrepreneurship has witnessed a growing interest in understanding the gendered propensity for starting and managing businesses. This study aims to unravel the role of other characteristics and discrimination in explaining the gender gap in entrepreneurship. By analyzing existing literature and empirical evidence, we explore various factors that contribute to gender differences in entrepreneurial behavior. First, we examine the influence of socio-cultural factors on the gendered propensity for entrepreneurship. Societal norms, expectations, and stereotypes surrounding gender roles often shape individuals' entrepreneurial aspirations and opportunities. Additionally, we investigate the impact of education, experience, and personal traits on entrepreneurial intentions, considering potential variations between genders. Next, we delve into the role of discrimination in hindering women's entrepreneurial pursuits. Discrimination can manifest in various forms, such as access to capital, networking opportunities, and biases in the evaluation of business ideas. We examine how these discriminatory practices can deter women from engaging in entrepreneurship and limit their chances of success. Furthermore, we explore the potential interaction between gender and other personal characteristics, such as risk tolerance, self-efficacy, and financial literacy. These factors can influence individuals' entrepreneurial decisions and may contribute to the gender gap observed in entrepreneurship. By understanding the interplay between gender and these characteristics, we can gain insights into the underlying mechanisms that shape entrepreneurial behavior. Finally, we discuss the implications of our findings for policymakers, organizations, and society as a whole. By recognizing and addressing the barriers and biases that hinder women's entrepreneurial engagement, we can foster a more inclusive and supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem. Promoting gender equality in entrepreneurship can lead to economic growth, innovation, and increased social well-being. In conclusion, this study provides a comprehensive exploration of the gendered propensity for entrepreneurship, considering the influence of other characteristics and discrimination. By shedding light on these factors, we aim to contribute to the development of strategies and interventions that promote gender equality in entrepreneurial opportunities and outcomes.
