Ortografía española: análisis de los errores de estudiantes italianos de ELE

This thesis aims to investigate and analyze spelling errors made by Italian students of Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE). The text is divided into four chapters. The first chapter outlines the importance of spelling in written communication and provides a historical overview of Spanish spelling, with a particular focus on the Alfonso X era, the Siglo de Oro, and the era of the Real Academia Española (RAE), which contributed to establishing a homogeneous and dynamic orthography. The second chapter explores the norms of Spanish spelling, based on the rules presented by the Real Academia Española in the work "Ortografía de la lengua española." Elements such as the alphabet, the distinction between uppercase and lowercase letters, the use of diacritics for accentuation and dieresis, punctuation, auxiliary signs, and abbreviations are analyzed, along with the orthographic management of linguistic loans. The third chapter delves into the process of acquiring a foreign language (L2), with a particular focus on the importance of orthographic competence in the learning process. It analyzes the challenges and advantages arising from the proximity between Italian and Spanish through a contrastive study and the analysis of errors that may arise during the writing process. The fourth chapter, finally, presents an analysis of spelling errors through a practical example based on the comparison of texts written in Spanish by Italian-speaking students.

Il presente lavoro si propone di esaminare e analizzare gli errori ortografici commessi dagli studenti italiani di Spagnolo come Lingua Straniera (ELE). La tesi è strutturata in quattro capitoli. Il primo capitolo delinea l'importanza dell'ortografia nella comunicazione scritta e offre una panoramica storica dell'ortografia spagnola. Un'attenzione particolare è dedicata alla fase di Alfonso X, al Siglo de Oro e all'era della Real Academia Española (RAE), che ha contribuito a stabilire una ortografia omogenea e dinamica. Il secondo capitolo esplora le normative dell'ortografia spagnola, basandosi sulle regole presentate dalla Real Academia Española nell'opera "Ortografía de la lengua española". Vengono analizzati elementi quali l'abecedario, la distinzione tra maiuscole e minuscole, l'uso di diacritici per l'accentuazione e la dieresi, la punteggiatura, i segni ausiliari e le abbreviazioni, oltre alla gestione ortografica di prestiti linguistici. Il terzo capitolo approfondisce il processo di acquisizione di una lingua straniera (L2), con una particolare attenzione all'importanza della competenza ortografica nel processo di apprendimento. Si analizzano le sfide e i vantaggi derivanti dalla prossimità tra l'italiano e lo spagnolo, attraverso uno studio contrastivo e l'analisi degli errori che possono emergere durante la scrittura. Il quarto capitolo, infine, presenta un'analisi degli errori ortografici mediante un esempio pratico basato sulla comparazione tra testi scritti in spagnolo da studenti italofoni.
