Economia circolare e sostenibilità: l'impatto sulla produzione tessile e abbigliamento

How to make the world in which we live a more sustainable and green place for future generations and to protect the environment and natural resources that we have available? Every human activity and behavior has consequences on our planet, affecting various sectors, including the fashion industry. Over the years, with the evolution of technologies, there are more and more consumption and waste to be disposed of and it is necessary to find tools to protect the economy, production and the environment around us, through sustainable ways and means such as the circular economy, recycling and reuse of products. In this thesis, environmental policies will be analyzed starting from the concepts of sustainable development and its components and then addressing the issue of environmental protection and European and national legislation related to it. We will then examine what the objectives of sustainable development are and introduce the issue of the circular economy and its benefits for the future. Later, this topic will be further explored in the third chapter where we will see what are the effects of the circular economy in the production of textiles and clothing, specifically what are sustainable fabrics and fibers and the impact of production and waste on the environment. Finally, in the last chapter, we will highlight the aspects of sustainability dealt with previously, in the fashion industry, starting from the regulations regarding sustainable fashion, aspects such as green-washing, fast fashion, with examples of how some factories in Italy and abroad work and the role that Media and social media have on the theme of sustainability. The analysis of this thesis will conclude by identifying the possible solutions or policies to be implemented to reduce the environmental impact in the textile and clothing production (but also in general) and how we can safeguard our resources and meet the environmental challenges of the coming years.

Come rendere il mondo in cui viviamo un posto più sostenibile e green per le generazioni future e per tutelare l’ambiente e le risorse naturali che abbiamo a disposizione? Ogni attività e comportamento umano producono delle conseguenze sul nostro pianeta andando ad intaccare vari settori, tra i quali anche il campo dell’industria della moda. Negli anni, con l’evoluzione delle tecnologie, ci sono sempre più consumi e rifiuti da smaltire ed è necessario trovare degli strumenti per tutelare l’economia, la produzione e l’ambiente che ci circonda, attraverso dei modi e con dei mezzi sostenibili come l’economia circolare, il riciclo e riutilizzo dei prodotti. In questa tesi verranno analizzate le politiche ambientali partendo dai concetti di sviluppo sostenibile e le sue componenti per poi affrontare il tema della tutela ambientale e la normativa europea e nazionale ad esso riferita. Si passerà poi ad esaminare quali sono gli obiettivi dello sviluppo sostenibile e introdurremo il tema dell’economia circolare e dei suoi vantaggi per il futuro. In seguito, questo argomento verrà approfondito ulteriormente nel terzo capitolo dove vedremo quali sono gli effetti dell’economia circolare nella produzione del tessile e dell’abbigliamento, entrando nello specifico di quali sono i tessuti e le fibre sostenibili e l’impatto della produzione e dei rifiuti nell’ambiente. Infine, nell’ultimo capitolo, verranno messi in luce gli aspetti della sostenibilità trattati in precedenza, nel settore della moda, a partire dalle normative che riguardano la moda sostenibile, aspetti come il green-washing, il fast fashion, con esempi di come lavorano alcune fabbriche in Italia e all’Estero e il ruolo che hanno i Media e i social sul tema della sostenibilità. L’analisi di questa tesi si concluderà individuando quali possono essere le possibili soluzioni o le politiche da attuare per ridurre l’impatto ambientale nell’ambito della produzione tessile e dell’abbigliamento (ma anche in generale) e di come sarà possibile salvaguardare le risorse di cui disponiamo e far fronte alle sfide ambientali dei prossimi anni.
